Today was the First Grade Spelling Bee.  It was very exciting.. In our class, Leah, Vladimir and Miriam V. were our spelling bee contestants.  At lunch Leah got a HUGE bump on her head and almost did not get to compete.  She was able to stay and hid her bump with her bangs.  There was a "spell-off" for fourth place since three students were eliminated in the same round. Finally we had a fourth place "winner" and were able to spell for the top three spots.  Our spellers Miriam and Vladimir came in second and third place.  We are so proud of them!!!
 
Today we went to the Ag Fair in Pomona.  We were excited to see if our entries had won any awards.  We were thrilled to see that almost everything we entered  won first place.  Our garden, posters and quilt had beautiful blue ribbons.  Our sawhorse that looked like a head of lettuce won third place.  We had fun looking around and visiting the petting zoo.  Nestle the cow that visited us at Glazier earlier in the month had had her baby, a bull calf named Crunch!
 
A cow named Nestle visited us today.  She is going to have a baby calf in a couple of weeks.  We learned that a cow has four stomachs and they chew their cud.  We wish we could h
